Overview
ILID is a not-for-profit
organization that caters to the leadership
and institutional development needs of social organizations; it is an
umbrella organization that helps social entrepreneurs improve and
innovate to deliver the best results possible to the poor and the
disadvantaged.
In the midst of their daily
operations, most NGOs today struggle
with two key issues – scalability and sustainability. These
are
issues that are critical not only to their growth, but often times to
their very existence.
In the words of Dr. G. K.
Jayaram (founder, ILID), “The infant
mortality rate in this sector is high, and while in the initial phases
one can live off idealism, after a while the harsh realities catch
up.”
Armed with extensive corporate
experience and the passion to bring
in change, ILID consultants work to infuse professionalism,
result-orientation and corporate pragmatism into NGOs.
Vision
To create and empower social entrepreneurial organizations by
providing them with guidance in leadership, and institutional
development.
Goals
- To assist directly in the achievement of optimal results by
social entrepreneurial organizations that address critical needs of
society, through planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- To identify social innovations which address critical needs of
society, and help create SEOs to sustain and scale up the innovations.
- To enhance the thinking abilities of social entrepreneurs and
their organizations by building a knowledge and skill base through
teaching, training, and research.
Founding Principles
- To commit to action and result orientation, and obsession with
result producing methodologies, which are ethically bound and ethically
executed.
- To understand our clients’ philosophies and act as their
partners, and ‘friend, philosopher and guide’.
- To serve, ultimately, the poorest constituencies, and in order to
fulfill this, we work pro bono.
- To act as a liaison and to leverage resources between the
professionals and the elite of the society, who have the resources,
networks, and power, and those organizations that are dedicated to the
poor, the weak, and the unrepresented.
Why ILID?
- India is the largest experiment in the democracy ever attempted
in human history.
- For it to succeed we need great institutions in every sector of
society, as they are the prime instruments of social change and socio
economic development.
- In turn enlightened leaders are needed to create, lead, nurture,
and sustain such institutions.
- Individuals by themselves however brilliant, dedicated, or
resource rich cannot hope to enhance the well being of a society single
handed.
- However it is individuals with the “three I’s”
– Intensity, Integrity, and Intelligence who are sorely needed to
create and lead institutions.
- ILID is an institution to help build such leaders and
institutions.
- We hope to accomplish this goal by developing the leadership
potential along with world-class systems and processes, which together
can achieve long term progress.
Professionalism to Non-Profit
Sector
ILID guides social
entrepreneurs and strives to realize their goals
by helping create a robust organizational structure and develop and
improve leadership skills.
Based upon this understanding,
we:
- involve the whole
organization in the development process
- commit optimal and sustained
time and resources
- help sustain the effort, and
scale-up in real time
